Post Freeport

Friday night we found a campground that looks good from the the pictures but turned out to be, I'm just going to say "Not so good" This one is on some bay and it's funny that if the campground is on or near some water it will be full in the season. This one was only a short distance from Freeport but really out in the boon docks. The office is in a little cabin and there are rest rooms, showers and a small laundry in another small cabin next to the office. our site was in the water and electricity area about a half mile from the office and down a narrow winding road. The water was serviced by a little plastic hose but we did have good 30 amp power. There was a grass, well sort of, field in the center of the loop where Shadow played with some other dogs and diagonally across from us there was, honestly, a one holer, you know what I mean. Fortunately for us we are self contained.

When you first get into Maine there is a long row on discount centers on US 1 in Kittery. A lot of name brand stores but all of the centers looked tired and need someTLC. Now Freeport is nice and fresh, looks good and has a lot of free parking. LL Bean is the flagship first run store and the others, lots of others, are all discount stores. Lot of stores, restaurants and even a Mc D that blends in with a very small golden arch. And no gas stations in the main shopping part of town.

I feel pretty lucky that we got out of LL Bean's without damaging the plastic too bad. I started wondering if we drove to Maine just for me to buy a red flannel shirt at LL Bean's  or what? Interesting, in talking to a lot of people in the parks and especially after seeing our FL license tag I always told them that we were driving to Maine. Now we are in Maine so I guess I should tell everyone that we're driving to Nova Scotia.

Last night we stayed in a very nice KOA park and will be here agin tonight, too. Today was another rest day.
